The Lower Pyrenees are the gateway to paradise. Unlike the more alpine Pyrenees, they have a more contrasting climate and a more arid landscape with mountains that barely reach 2000 meters high. However, they offer areas of great natural and cultural interest: reservoirs and gorges of great beauty, charming medieval towns, as well as Pyrenean fauna reserves, among others. One of its most famous spots is Boumort National Reserve, a protected area where four species of great birds of prey live and nest, such as the Griffon vulture, the black voltor, the bearded vulture and the Egyptian vulture, along with large mammals such as the red deer, that each mating season offer a feral show: the rut.
